Firm Earns Multiple Honors, Partner Lisa Damon Named Among Top 10 Most Innovative Lawyers

CHICAGO (November 29, 2012) — For the second consecutive year, leading law firm Seyfarth Shaw LLP has earned a spot among the top 10 most innovative law firms in the Financial Times (FT) U.S. Innovative Lawyers Report 2012.

Recognized for its innovative approach to the business of law and the efforts of several of its practice groups, Seyfarth ranks No. 7 in the FT Law 25 index of innovative law firms, rising two spots from 2011. The recognition reflects the ongoing efforts of the firm's leadership, partnership and staff to drive quality and efficiency in the delivery of client service.

At an event held in New York November 28, Seyfarth’s Lisa Damon, partner and chair of the firm’s Labor & Employment Department, was also honored among a group of the 10 most innovative individuals in the legal industry. She was named one of the FT’s “Top 10 Agents for Change” in 2012 for her efforts in championing the firm’s Lean Six Sigma-based SeyfarthLean client service model.

“We are proud of the recognition and success that our path continues to bring to our firm and our clients, many of whom are featured in this report,” said J. Stephen Poor, Seyfarth’s chairman and managing partner. “It’s the highest honor to see the innovative efforts of our clients increasingly recognized, and we look forward to our ongoing collaboration to drive the type of innovation and value that best serves their needs.”

The FT awarded Seyfarth accolades in the following:

  • Business of Law - The firm received “Highly Commended” honors for its SeyfarthLean Consulting business, which assists in-house legal teams and identifies more efficient approaches to workflow management and resourcing.

  • Intellectual Property - The firm received “Standout” honors for its work with Wolverine to develop and enhance tools to maintain its growing trademark portfolio, including a new client-firm mobile app.

  • Litigation - The firm received “Highly Commended” honors for working with United Technologies to develop tools to help capture and monitor employment law data that helps mitigate risk and control litigation costs. The firm also earned “Commended” honors for successfully applying the Supreme Court’s high-profile ruling in Dukes v. Wal-Mart to a wage and hour class action on behalf of Farmers Insurance.

Known internationally for its authority, integrity and accuracy, the FT is one of the world’s leading business and news information organizations. This year, the report’s rigorous submission and referral process included more than 300 submissions from 60 Am Law 100 firms to reach the final rankings.
