Gregory Markel and Sarah Fedner in Seyfarth’s Litigation Department and members of the firm’s Securities & Fiduciary Duty Litigation Practice Group, will co-moderate for the New York County Lawyers Association’s “Voting Rights Under Attack: How Far Can States Go” Webinar on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at 12:30 p.m. EST. Gregory serves as the NYCLA’s program chair.

The webinar will involve an important discussion about the state of voting rights in the United States today. The panel of experts will discuss such topics as:

  • What are the likely effects of recent impediments to voting in State statutes? Will voter suppression be a likely consequence? Are all of the State new requirements unreasonable? Under what authority have States imposed voting restrictions?
  • Will there be Constitutional challenges to the new State voting restriction laws? How far can the States actually go in restricting their citizens' rights to vote?
  • What role can General Counsel, corporations and businesses play in weighing in on legislation or high profile social issues?
  • Is the conduct of State political officials ethical if the new legislation has a chilling effect on citizens' right to vote?
