Restrictive covenant law is an ever-evolving landscape, and recent court decisions and legislative actions throughout the country have made it more difficult than ever for employers to implement and enforce non-compete, non-solicitation, and/or non-disclosure agreements with employees across all 50 states. Please join Seyfarth attorneys Bob Stevens, Eric Barton, and Dan Hart as they provide a summary of recent legal developments in restrictive covenants laws throughout the country and identify trends for companies to watch for in 2019 and beyond. This presentation will provide insight on the following areas:

  • Recent court decisions interpreting the 2011 Georgia restrictive covenants statute;
  • Recent key court decisions and legislative enactments in California, Washington, Oregon, New Hampshire, Maryland and Maine restricting use of restrictive covenants with employees;
  • Recent state attorneys’ general enforcement actions against use of non-compete agreements with low-wage workers;
  • Quirks in state law that pose obstacles to managing a restrictive covenants portfolio on a 50-state basis; and
  • Practical pointers for managing a restrictive covenants portfolio in a changing landscape.

The 1.5 hour presentation will be followed by a cocktail reception.
