The President’s latest proclamation taking effect at 12:01 AM on June 24, 2020, suspends entry into the United States for H-1B, H-2B, L-1 and J-1 nonimmigrants and their dependents who do not have valid visa stamps as of the effective date of the proclamation. With the suspension in effect until at least December 31, 2020, companies are facing a whole new set of challenges impacting a U.S. workforce that is dependent on talent and support of employees across the globe. We have partnered with companies, developing strategies to account for the impact of the COVID-19 crisis on global mobility and visa sponsorships, now, as the world cautiously re-opens, we have additional challenges with new restrictions that will further impact economic activity.

In this webinar, Seyfarth’s Angelo PaparelliLeon Rodriguez, Randel Johnson, Gabriel Mozes, and Mahsa Aliaskari offer updates on the ongoing developments, legal strategies and advocacy efforts in light of the proclamation.

A few hot topics of interest during the session include:

  • Practicality of exemptions and timing of travel with COVID-19
  • Litigation on the horizon
  • What could future regulation look like - the proclamation asks several agencies to consider regulatory and administrative changes to the H-1B program and to immigrant visa programs.
  • Policy Advocacy at different levels
