Seyfarth Shaw Labor & Employment partner Jeffrey Berman, who was not involved in the case, was quoted in Business Insurance on December 13 in an article discussing a court ruling regarding a teacher who was fired from a Christian school for living out of wedlock with her boyfriend and raising a child. Jeff said that the school's exemptions from various laws are "rather clear." The court applied them in a manner that allowed the school to make a religious-based decision and to "require that employees comport themselves in manner which is consistent with the teachings of the church."
