John Mazzeo to Speak at 2026 AILA Annual Conference

John Mazzeo, Counsel in Seyfarth's Immigration practice, will serve as a panelist at the American Immigration Lawyers Association’s (AILA) 2026 Annual Conference, taking place June 17–20, 2026 in San Diego, CA. A former ICE prosecutor and recognized authority in employment eligibility verification, John will being a rare insider’s perspective to one of the most pressing compliance challenges facing employers today.

On Saturday, June 20, John will participate in the session titled “Form I-9 and E-Verify Under Scrutiny: Avoiding Compliance Pitfalls and Discrimination Liability.” The program will guide attorneys through the current enforcement landscape — including ICE audits, DOJ Immigrant and Employee Rights (IER) investigations, and emerging state-level enforcement trends — while addressing how well-intentioned hiring and sponsorship practices can trigger liability under federal anti-discrimination laws. Topics will include audit preparation, unfair documentary practices, and key takeaways from recent §1324b and §1981 cases.
