“Consensus-Docs”

Jonathan Hausner’s article, “Consensus-Docs” was published in the January 2008 issue of the newsletter of the New England Region Chapter of the Construction Management Association of America.

Jonathan explains in his article that a “coalition of construction industry organizations… introduced a host of new construction contract ‘standard’ forms” in September of last year. These documents, “ConsensusDocs,” are the “new united voice for construction contracts,” according to the coalition. Jonathan notes that “the ConsensusDocs plan and forms are a partial response to the new form revisions published by the American Institute of Architects in November 2007.” He remarks, “it behooves the pro-active CM to be aware of the new forms of different and changing industry ‘standards’ and become familiar with the similarities and differences among the different contract forms.”
