Ken Wilton and Andrew Sherman Present at the Retail Industry Leaders Association’s 2019 Retail Law Conference

On Thursday, October 17th, Ken Wilton and Andrew Sherman presented at the Retail Industry Leaders Association's 2019 Retail Law Conference. This session, titled “Growth Strategies and Harvesting Intellectual Assets for Retailers”, focused on domestic and global growth strategies for retailers, where the fuel that drives the growth is the monetization of their intangible assets in the form of joint ventures and alliances, co-branding, brand-extension licensing, business format franchising, and more. The presentation also touched on how the monetization of intangibles requires a careful navigation of multi-jurisdictional differences in trademark, copyright, database and trade secret protection, enforcement, and general government regulation relating to privacy, comparative and competitive advertising, licensing, franchising, and co-branding.
