Seyfarth Shaw Washington, D.C. office partner Kevin Connelly wrote an article published in the Washington Business Journal on July 14. The article discussed a case in which a couple of employees working under a government contract lied about the number of hours worked, given their minimum supervision.

Kevin pointed out the need for employers to put in place compliance policies and procedures in order to lessen the possibility of "time mischarging" under federal prime and subcontracts. He also suggested and gave examples of implementing appropriate safeguards, procedures and audit systems to minimize the temptation for bad behavior.
