Kevin Connelly Quoted in the Washington Business Journal
"Contractors struggle as they grow beyond small"
Seyfarth Shaw Washington, D.C. partner Kevin Connelly was quoted in the Washington Business Journal on May 13 in an article discussing issues faced by contractors after graduating from the Small Business Administration's (SBA) 8(a) assistance program, which aims to help small business, providing benefits to promote growth, including granting exclusive access to contracts. Once those contracts end, it is often difficult for companies to win contracts large enough to allow for the difference.
"We've seen instances where companies go from small to large and then back to small, based on the fact they just stopped winning contracts," Kevin said, adding, "Often those set-aside contracts make it difficult to find any meeting of the minds in terms of a small business' value, and the transaction dies."
