Louis Chronowski Featured in Chicago Lawyer
"Around the Water Cooler: Recreational Appointment"
Louis Chronowski was featured in the September 4, 2009 Chicago Lawyer article, "Around the Water Cooler: Recreational Appointment." The article discussed Lou's appointment to the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA) Lawyer's Committee. He was nominated by his client, the Canadian RV company, Roadtrek Motorhomes, Inc., to serve on the committee and he was formally appointed by the RVIA lawyer's committee chairman on July 16, 2009. The article noted that as a committee member, Lou will attend annual meetings, support the mission of the RVIA, and provide the association with recommendations on legal issues.
The article also discussed Lou's thoughts on the state of the RV industry. According to the Lou, "All of these industries -- motor vehicle, trucks, and RVs -- are facing pressures because of the economy…. But the RV industry has been hit particularly hard because people do not have the discretionary income for recreational uses whereas people still have to purchase cars for work and other uses." According to the article, Lou has many years of trial and appellate experience in representing companies involved in motor vehicle manufacturer-dealer and franchisor-franchisee disputes. Lou commented that some of the disputes in that industry, as well as other motor vehicle industries, involve termination, geographical location of dealerships and other conflicts that result from motor vehicle manufacturer-dealer relationships.
According to the article, Lou's work with the RVIA showcases not only how the law touches so many different areas of business, but also highlights the need for attorneys to specialize in different areas of law. Lou concluded, "It’s really the only way we as lawyers can truly be valuable resources to our clients…. We all graduate law school, but our clients need attorneys who know their business, can become experts in their business, and grow with their business."
