Michael Kippins Moderated Panel for MBLA's "Real Talk Series: Legislative and Prosecutorial Reforms Relating to Race and Police Violence"
Seyfarth attorney, Michael Kippins, moderated a panel through the Massachusetts Black Lawyers Association (MBLA) for its “Real Talk” series. The purpose of the series is to host “difficult” discussions on issues relating to race, with particular respect to how those issues affect people of color in the legal community. Michael moderated Part II in the series, "Legislative and Prosecutorial Reforms Relating to Race and Police Violence."
During the program, the panelists discussed their experiences with racial barriers in getting to their current position, the ongoing challenges they have faced in attempting to implement reforms relating to race relations and police accountability, and how the community can better support black candidates running in federal, state, and local elections.
The panelists for the program included:
• Liz Miranda (MA State Representative)
• Rachael Rollins (Suffolk County District Attorney)
• Jonathan Allen (Director of Development & Partnerships at The Leadership Brainery)
• Vanessa O’Connor (Hanover Board of Selectmen)
