"Cardiologists take contract dispute to court"

The president of the Chicago Cardiology Institute filed suit against a cardiologist who was a former employee and left the practice earlier this year. According to Crain's, the former cardiologist is violating his contract by competing against the four-doctor group, which has key relationships with Arlington Heights-based Alexian Brothers Health System and Sherman Hospital. The article goes on to reveal that non-compete clauses in employment contracts sometimes make it difficult for physicians to treat their former patients once they set up their own practices, and the cardiologist in this instance posits that it's "all about the big buck" and not the patient care.
