Nicole Bogard was quoted in a February 23 story “IRS Notice Permits Some Midyear Changes” from SHRM on the Internal Revenue Service’s (IRS) recent clarification that midyear changes to 401(k) safe harbor plans are permitted when the changes are beneficial to plan participants. Bogard cautioned that the clarification does not open the floodgate for changes to a 401(k) safe harbor plan and said the permitted changes are very specific with restrictions.
