Ofer Lion was quoted in a May 14 story from Law360, “Disaster Relief Tax Law Possible Tool For COVID-19 Relief.” Lion said if the government wants Section 139 to be used for COVID-19 relief, there are changes that Congress or the IRS could make to more easily facilitate that, such as explicitly allowing nonemployer parties to contribute to disaster relief grant funds operated by an employer.
