Paley Named to Daily Journal’s 2014 List of “Top Labor & Employment Attorneys

Andrew Paley, Labor & Employment partner for Seyfarth in Los Angeles, was named one of the top lawyers in his field by the Daily Journal.

The Daily Journal profiles Paley’s efforts to defeat a complex and high-profile case challenging the classification of mortgage loan officers as exempt outside sales employees, which was filed as both a collective action under the federal Fair Labor Standards Act and a class action under the California labor code. Paley and the Seyfarth team prevailed, protecting this class of employees in a precedent-setting series of victories, including the first-ever jury trial in the country on this issue.

“These rulings are significant, both to the mortgage loan industry and to all employers who have outside sales employees,” Paley told the Daily Journal.
