Real Estate Partner Morgan Jones Joins Sacramento Office of Seyfarth Shaw LLP

SACRAMENTO, CA (September 14, 2010)— Seyfarth Shaw LLP, one of America’s leading full-service law firms, announced today that Morgan T. Jones has joined the firm’s Sacramento office as a partner in the Real Estate department. He arrives from McDonough Holland & Allen PC, where he was a shareholder. Jones is joined by associate Robert J. Wood.

Jones focuses his practice in banking, with a particular emphasis on financing transactions and workouts, restructurings and loan enforcement, and in real estate. His financing practice includes all types of commercial real property secured loans involving all types of security properties and commercial and agricultural loans, as well as issuers of letters of credit in bond transactions. Jones also represents lenders in managing REO, sales of REO, and loan sales. His loan origination and restructuring practices have included syndicated and participated loans, affordable housing loans and public finance, equity participation loans, mezzanine loans, and multi-state transactions, as well as representation of lenders with high-volume commercial and commercial real estate lending programs.

The Real Estate department balances legal counsel with an understanding of how a client’s business works and how their real estate assets and investments fit with their business objectives. The group specializes in retail, pension funds, office/industrial, development/construction, and structured real estate finance. The team works with lenders, investors, developers, owners and users of real estate across all industries, including pension funds, investment advisors and government entities.

The Structured & Real Estate practice group has multiple programs to provide updated market information and educational materials to current and potential clients, as well as internal programs designed to maintain its members’ skill levels. The group works with a wide array of financial institutions and companies to structure and negotiate mortgage and mezzanine loans and other credit facilities, handle loan administration and servicing issues, and through the firm’s Distressed Asset Resolution Team, represent the interest of clients in mortgage and mezzanine loan defaults, workouts, foreclosures, and borrower bankruptcies.

Jones received his B.A. from the University of California, Santa Barbara, his M.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles and his J.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law where he served on the UCLA Law Review and the UCLA International Law Journal. He is admitted to practice law in the state of California. He is a fellow in the American College of Mortgage Attorneys.
