The article highlights the arrival of Richard to the expanding national Intellectual Property Practice Group in the Washington, D.C. office of the firm. According to the article, Richard's arrival marks the establishment of an IP presence in the D.C. location, and helping to build that foundation is part of what drew him to the firm. Richard noted that "Seyfarth has a growing, dynamic IP practice, and I wanted to be a part of that platform and growth." The article further noted that Richard focuses his practice on IP counseling and litigation and works with clients to manage their existing patent portfolios and to negotiate transactions. Additionally, the article pointed out that Richard began his legal career at IBM, working on technology licensing and agreements, which continues to set the tone for the work he does currently. He commented, “It was a great foundation. I had front line exposure to research and development issues, and IBM was absolutely cutting edge and very important to the future of the computer industry. That experience has served me well in handling patent transactions for high tech clients throughout my career.”
