“Trade Secrets Cases May Spike After US Strengthens Law”

Seyfarth Shaw Intellectual Property partner Robert Milligan is quoted in a January 3 Law360 article discussing recently passed bills which extend the scope of the Economic Espionage Act and increases penalties for violations. Robert mentions the benefits of the higher penalties and also points out that the bills “may also be precursors to passage of legislation creating a federal private right of action under the EEA, allowing companies to sue allege trade secret thieves directly, without involving federal authorities.”
