Seyfarth Appoints Marc Gurell Co-Leader of New York Real Estate Practice

NEW YORK (November 1, 2013) — Seyfarth Shaw LLP announced today that partner Marc J. Gurell has been named co-leader of the firm’s New York Real Estate Practice.

Seyfarth’s New York office is one of the firm’s largest offices, and Gurell will help oversee Seyfarth's growing group of more than 30 New York real estate lawyers who serve clients across the country. He joins Seyfarth’s Stephen Epstein as co-leader of this group in New York, which earlier this year welcomed an accomplished group of six new real estate lawyers from three different firms.

With a deep background in accounting, Gurell advises clients on planning, structuring and executing sophisticated corporate, real estate and licensing transactions, including acquisitions, divestitures and financings (traditional, mezzanine and preferred equity). Before entering the private legal sector, he served as Assistant Corporation Counsel at the Office of the Corporation Counsel for the City of New York as well as tax counsel for two of the nation's top accounting firms.
