Seyfarth Expands Immigration Practice, Welcomes Sharon Poorak in Atlanta

ATLANTA (November 19, 2012) — Leading law firm Seyfarth Shaw LLP announced today that Sharon Cook Poorak has joined as senior counsel in the firm's Immigration Practice in Atlanta. Poorak was previously a partner at law firm Frazier, Soloway, Poorak & Kennedy.

Poorak focuses her practice on business immigration law, bringing more than 25 years of business immigration experience to Seyfarth. During her legal career, she has also held a number of high-profile positions in the immigration law community, serving as Director of Education for the American Immigration Lawyers Association, practicing business immigration law at Alston & Bird, and  serving as Director of the Detention Project for Catholic Social Services.

Poorak graduated from Georgia State University with a J.D. and B.S. in Criminal Justice, and has practiced exclusively in the field of immigration law. As Director of Education for the American Immigration Lawyers Association in Washington, D.C., she developed the educational programs for the association's 10,000 members based upon the latest immigration law developments from Congress and federal agencies, and she represented indigent individuals in immigration custody as Director of the Detention Project for Catholic Social Services. She has been a frequent speaker at various immigration conferences nationwide, a guest lecturer on business immigration law, and most recently, a panel member representing practitioners debating the impact of the new Georgia immigration laws with various law makers, law school professors and law enforcement officials.
