Seyfarth Further Expands Sophisticated Real Estate Offerings with Addition of Chris McCoy as a Partner in Charlotte

July 20, 2026 – Seyfarth Shaw LLP has further expanded its world-class Real Estate department by adding Chris McCoy as a partner in the firm’s growing Charlotte office.

McCoy is the 12th Real Estate partner who has made a lateral move to Seyfarth since January 2025 – and the fifth partner since the beginning of 2026 to join Seyfarth’s Real Estate group, which ranks among the largest in the United States. McCoy comes to Seyfarth after 19 years at King & Spalding.

McCoy’s sophisticated commercial real estate practice focuses on representing institutional investors, life insurance companies, private equity funds, university endowments, and other capital providers in complex real estate and infrastructure transactions. His core work includes joint ventures (single-asset, portfolio, and programmatic), fund formation, separate accounts, preferred equity, and alternative capital structures. His practice is primarily capital-facing.

McCoy is known for advising clients on sophisticated real estate and infrastructure investments, including complex joint ventures, fund formations, preferred equity structures, and other strategic capital transactions.

McCoy is recognized in Chambers USA and The Best Lawyers in America® for exceptional work in Real Estate Law. He earned his JD from the University of Richmond School of Law and his AB from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
