HOUSTON (May 13, 2013) - Seyfarth Shaw LLP announced today that the firm’s Houston office was honored with a Harris County Bench Bar Pro Bono Award.
The awards program was established to recognize outstanding pro bono service through local legal service providers and to encourage the provision of direct legal services to low-income Harris County residents. A committee of seven judges and six attorneys selected the recipients. Harris County Administrative Judge Ken Wise of the 334th District Court and Houston Bar Association President Brent Benoit presented Seyfarth with the award for outstanding service by a mid-size firm.
Under the leadership of pro bono chair Steve Shardonofsky and Houston office managing partner Mark Coffin, Seyfarth attorneys scored several wins on behalf of organizations including Kids In Need of Defense (KIND), Blessed Be Hope For Three, Journey to Dream Foundation and the Tahirih Justice Center, supporting unaccompanied immigrant children and foster children, children with autism spectrum disorders, faith-based programs educating and inspiring young people to overcome destructive behaviors and abused women seeking asylum and immigration relief.
