Chicago, IL (August 6, 2007)—Seyfarth Shaw LLP, one of America’s leading full-service law firms, announced today that Jason Priebe has joined the firm as Of Counsel in its eDiscovery Practice Group. He was previously Assistant Counsel, Corporate Governance, Law and Regulation at Allstate Insurance Company.

“As an addition to our expanding eDiscovery Practice Group, Jason brings valuable in-house experience that will better enable us to anticipate the needs of our clients—especially the larger companies we serve,” said Scott A. Carlson, Co-Chair of Seyfarth Shaw’s eDiscovery Practice Group. “Electronic data saturates every aspect of doing business today, and Jason joins a team of lawyers with extensive technical and legal experience working with in-house counsel, IT professionals and senior executives in counseling them on how to manage eDiscovery issues in litigation and to best control their data in preparation for litigation.”

The prevalence of electronic data, from e-mails to data storage, is a mainstay of every business today and its prevalence has led to new legal concerns for businesses of all sizes. New emphases have emerged on the discovery of electronic information in litigation and on efforts to take control of data, managing where it can be stored, establishing enforceable internal technology policies and controlling the implementation of new technologies.

“As the former counsel for record and information management at a Fortune 100 company, Jason brings the kind of large-scale eDiscovery experience and knowledge that can help us meet the electronic data discovery needs of our clients,” said Ronald L. Lipinski, Co-Chair of Seyfarth Shaw’s eDiscovery Practice Group. “Jason’s been in the same digital trenches we’ve been in with our clients and he knows well how to navigate them.”

In addition to handling the litigation aspects of eDiscovery, Seyfarth Shaw’s eDiscovery Practice Group assists companies in shaping data preservation, document retention and e-mail usage policies concerning privacy issues, information security, spoliation and data collection issues. Additional services provided by the group include customized training on eDiscovery issues, coordinating computer forensic and other technology-related experts and managing outside vendor relationships and costs.

“Seyfarth Shaw’s eDiscovery Practice Group is both technically savvy and dedicated to excellent client service,” Priebe said. “In an era where we’re seeing electronic data becoming the central issues of litigation, joining Seyfarth Shaw was an opportunity I couldn’t resist, especially since I will be working with a talented legal team dedicated to providing first-rate eDiscovery services.”

Priebe received his B. A. (with honors) from Mercer University where he later earned his J. D.  He is a member of the Sedona Conference—a research and educational institute dedicated to the advanced study of law and policy in the areas of antitrust law, complex litigation, and intellectual property rights—and a member of the Working Group on International Electronic Information Management, Discovery and Disclosure.

Seyfarth Shaw has over 700 attorneys located in nine offices throughout the United States including Chicago, New York, Boston, Washington D.C., Atlanta, Houston, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Sacramento as well as Brussels, Belgium.  Seyfarth Shaw provides a broad range of legal services in the areas of labor and employment, employee benefits, litigation and business services.
