The newly established Seyfarth Shaw Covered Bonds Team was featured in the November 6, 2008 Housing Wire article "Law Firm Ramps Up For Covered Bonds." The Seyfarth Shaw Covered Bonds team is an inter-practice group that was initiated through the Structured & Real Estate Finance Practice Group (SREF) and is comprised of structured finance corporate, real estate, bankruptcy, and tax attorneys across the firm. The article explained that the team was formed to "assist with covered bond offerings" and "help clients assess the viability of this product in their particular circumstances while factoring in current market conditions." Shirley Curfman is highlighted as a key player on the team for serving as legal counsel to the mortgage bond indenture trustee in one of only two covered bond transactions in which U.S. financial institutions issued covered bonds.
