Seyfarth Shaw was featured in the November 10, 2008 issue of the National Law Journal. The profile piece outlined the current composition of the firm's practice areas, its shifting practice mix and how the firm has achieved the transformation that has already taken place (i.e., doubling its head count in recent years, building out practice mixes and establishing its presence in regional markets).

According to the article, Steve Poor is pleased with the progress the firm has made in its transformation: "There are tremendous opportunities out there, but we also have seen firms taking missteps and we're trying to learn from that." The article also highlighted the growth of the firm's corporate and real estate practices with the recent addition of nine attorneys in the Los Angeles office. One legal recruiter said in the article that in its efforts to diversify and grow, "Seyfarth has developed a strong real estate department and... corporate practice." A second legal recruiter said that Seyfarth Shaw's employee benefits practice has also grown from a "side line" of labor and employment to become a national practice.

Steve also explained in the article that "Expansion of the corporate, real estate and intellectual property practice areas is part of the firm's ongoing diversification campaign." He concluded that "We take a long view of the business. We are still in the market for high-quality people to continue on our path."
