On December 6, Law360 announced the results of The BTI Client Service A-Team 2011 report by The BTI Consulting Group Inc., which ranked Seyfarth Shaw as one of the most innovative firms. The report, which summed up responses from nearly 300 corporate counsel at Fortune 1000 companies and was published as part of BTI's annual report, recognized 30 law firms that received corporate counsel's highest ratings across a range of categories. According to the article, Innovation was a new category this year, joining 16 others areas that the consulting firm reported as being key drivers of superior client relationships. Seyfarth Shaw ranked in the top five.

Chair and Managing Partner J. Stephen Poor said that one of the firm's most innovative tools is its Lean Six Sigma program, SeyfarthLean. Lean is an evaluative process that helps attorneys identify and weed out inefficiencies that can drive up client costs.

Steve noted that the SeyfarthLean program sets the firm apart, allowing Seyfarth to examine the way legal services are delivered "through the client's eyes." Steve explained that "the goal here is to make sure you maintain or improve quality, drive efficiency, and hopefully get a similar or better result at a lower overall cost. "The response has been very positive." He further explained that in all areas, a firm's constant evolution is of tremendous value to clients. "I think that the old ways of delivering services have to be modified and adapted to meet the changing needs of the clients, who face their own ever-changing worlds. Those firms who can be creative are the ones who are in the best position to partner with and help clients solve their particular problems."
