Seyfarth Shaw Highlighted, Peter Korda Quoted in Total Securitization
"From TARP to TALF: TALF to Bump Up Mart's Return?"
Seyfarth Shaw was highlighted and Peter Korda was quoted in the December 1, 2008 issue of Total Securitization in the article, "From TARP to TALF: TALF to Bump Up Mart's Return?" The article discussed the Federal Reserve's recent actions to prop up the securitization market, which some believe may revive the market sooner than expected. According to the article, the Fed's Term Asset-Backed Securities Loan Facility will lend up to $200 billion to holders of high-grade ABS backed by newly and recently originated consumer loans, including auto, credit card and student loans collateral, as well as small business. The expected timeframes for the new issues vary. Citing Blake Hornick and Peter Korda, who were interviewed for the piece, the article noted that "lawyers at law firm Seyfarth Shaw expressed more conservative estimates on issues." Peter and Blake anticipated new issuance to pick up in the latter half of 2009, with the market coming back the way it went out--with RMBS. Peter noted that the market must come back before securitization comes back. He doesn’t "expect everyone to cascade back into the marketplace all at once."
