On July 7, lawyers from Seyfarth Shaw LLP's in-house rock band, Bill Early & The Collections, took second place besting musicians from other well-known firms at its debut performance in Banding Together, a battle of 11 law firm bands competing to raise money for Gifts for the Homeless, a charity that provides clothing and other necessities to Washington, D.C.'s homeless population.

Equity partners Dyann DelVecchio, Gary Glaser, Gary Kaplan, Bob Nobile, Bill Schurgin and David Weiner comprised the band, which was the only one whose members were all from the same firm, equity partners and members of the AARP. They raised more than $13,000, and the total proceeds from the event netted a record of $145,000. Remarking that they had never seen a first-time band achieve the level of fundraising and impact, the event coordinators praised Seyfarth Shaw's great team effort.

"This was a remarkable experience for all of the band members and for those who were able to attend," said drummer and Seyfarth New York office partner Bob Nobile.

Chicago partner and Bill Early & The Collections' guitarist Gary Kaplan added, "Our firm's performance confirms what we already knew—when it comes to philanthropy and rock 'n' roll, Seyfarth Shaw knows how to get it done."
