Seyfarth Shaw Partner Anita Ponder Recognized by Today’s Chicago Woman as “Making a Difference”

CHICAGO (July 12, 2011) — Seyfarth Shaw LLP is proud to announce that Government Contracts partner Anita Ponder has been named to Today’s Chicago Woman magazine’s “100 Women Making a Difference 2011” list. Ponder works in the firm’s Chicago office and also serves as Chair of Seyfarth’s Government Contracts Business Forum.

Recently named to Chicago Lawyer magazine’s “Chicago Women in Law 2011,” Ponder was selected based on a survey of her peers and members of the legal community as one of 12 women who have made a local impact. Also honored during the Chicago Women's History Month Celebration, Ponder has been lauded for her many and significant contributions to the business industry. Nationally well-known for handling a range of supplier diversity issues involving minority, women-owned and small businesses, she also helps those companies obtain certification eligibility and/or contract opportunities with federal, state, local and non-profit certifying agencies nationwide.

Ponder’s practice focuses on advising bidders and contractors on government regulations, laws, policies and legislation; preparing responsive bid proposals, small business subcontracting plans, bid protests and equitable contract claims; drafting and negotiating contracts; resolving contract disputes; obtaining contract payments; facilitating contract compliance, including assisting clients to meet contract participation goals for small businesses; representing contractors in suspension and debarment proceedings; and structuring competitive strategic alliances and relationships between majority- and minority-owned businesses. She also regularly delivers speeches on these issues to major corporations, business organizations, bar associations and government agencies throughout the country.

Since 1988, Today’s Chicago Woman has annually recognized “100 Women Making a Difference.” The list strives to honor those women who “work tirelessly behind the scenes,” and “whose accomplishments go unsung to the general public.” The women on the list hail from a variety of industries, including finance, law, education, philanthropy, media, government, marketing, culture, and other arenas.
