Designation for new 83,000-square foot interior space at 1075 Peachtree St. makes Seyfarth one of the first LEED-certified law firms in Atlanta
Atlanta, GA (November 8, 2010) — Seyfarth Shaw LLP, one of America’s leading full-service law firms, is pleased to announce that its new Atlanta office – which just opened in April after a relocation – has earned LEED CI V2 Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council for its interior construction. Seyfarth is one of Atlanta’s first law firms to be recognized with a LEED designation.
Seyfarth Shaw’s eco-friendly office is located in midtown at 1075 Peachtree Street. The firm occupies approximately 83,000 square feet on the 23rd, 24th and 25th floors.
To gain LEED certification, Seyfarth and noted architectural and interior design firm NELSON complied with a number of environmental design and construction practices, including an emphasis on natural lighting, recycling of construction waste, an onsite recycling center, green janitorial processes, automatic lighting dimmers and other features. The LEED certification for the interior office space is in addition to the building’s own LEED certification.
The offices boast 10-foot ceilings and open workstations for paralegals and other staff, creating a much airier and light-filled environment than the typical professional services firm. A nursing room is available for mothers with young children, along with a shower facility for all staff, which makes it easier for personnel to commute to work by bicycling or other green modes of transportation. Drywall construction was kept to a minimum throughout and low-emitting materials were used for the paint, carpets, woods and laminates.
“Receiving the LEED certification is a testament to the careful planning and hard work that went into our new offices highlighting Seyfarth’s commitment to a green, sustainable workplace. It is most gratifying that we not only obtained our goal of achieving a LEED certification, but we received the second highest rating possible for interior construction,” said Steven L. Kennedy, Managing Partner of Seyfarth’s Atlanta office.
Launched in 1996, Seyfarth’s Atlanta office is regularly recognized as a leader in associate and employee satisfaction surveys. Seyfarth was cited by the Atlanta Business Chronicle as among the fastest-growing law firms in Atlanta over the last five years. The office is well represented in all of the major law firm rankings, including Chambers and America’s Leading Lawyers for Business.
Seyfarth Shaw’s new home in the 725,000-square-foot tower at 1075 Peachtree Street is part of a larger complex known as 12th & Midtown, the cornerstone of the Midtown Mile, which includes a more than 3 million square-foot mixed-use development spanning four city blocks.
