NEW YORK (July 31, 2012) - Seyfarth Shaw LLP announced today that Corporate Department partner Christopher Carolan has been selected by the National Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Bar Association to receive a Best LGBT Lawyers Under 40 - Class of 2012 Award.
The select group of recipients will be recognized at the 2012 Lavender Law Conference, August 23-25, in Washington, D.C. The LGBT Bar Association established the award to recognize outstanding legal professionals under the age of 40, who have distinguished themselves in their field and demonstrated a profound commitment to LGBT equality.
A partner in Seyfarth’s New York office, Carolan practices in the areas of leveraged finance, corporate transactions, real estate, workouts, and restructuring. He has represented senior and subordinate lenders, agents, and borrowers in a variety of large and middle market syndicated and bilateral loans and letters of credit transactions, both in the United States and internationally. These transactions frequently involve complex intercreditor relationships, asset backed loans, and a diverse array of collateral located both inside and outside the United States. On the restructuring side, he has represented administrative agents and lenders in several complex out-of-court and in-court proceedings, providing advice on the restructuring of distressed credits, the provision of debtor-in possession financing, exit financing, liquidation, reorganization and the general exercise of rights and remedies
Carolan currently serves on the Board of Governors of the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) and has been a long time member of HRC’s Greater New York Steering Committee where he focused on fundraising and political work supporting HRC. His continued and recognized work with HRC, in addition to his substantive legal expertise, were highlighted in the award nomination process.
The National LGBT Bar Association is an association of attorneys, judges and other legal professionals, law students, activists and affiliated lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender legal organizations. The LGBT Bar promotes justice in and through the legal profession for the LGBT community in all its diversity.
