Los Angeles, CA (July 12, 2010)—Seyfarth Shaw LLP, one of America’s leading full-service law firms, today announced that Alan M. Lenkin has joined the firm’s Los Angeles office as a partner in the Litigation Department. Lenkin joins the firm from Fulbright & Jaworski LLP.

Lenkin is a senior patent attorney who focuses on patent issues and other intellectual property matters. He manages patent prosecution for both emerging companies and more established high-technology companies. He is particularly strong in computer, telecommunications, aerospace, medical device and semiconductor technological arts. Lenkin is a registered U.S. Patent Attorney with extensive patent prosecution experience in complex technologies, as well as experience conducting appeals before the Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences. He works with clients to evaluate their intellectual property issues and to provide overall strategic counseling with respect to issues such as portfolio development and technology transfer. Lenkin also employs his considerable experience in patent litigation, and represents leading companies both as plaintiff and defendant.

“We are very excited to welcome Alan to our growing national IP practice on the West Coast,” said Brian Michaelis, Chair of Seyfarth Shaw’s Intellectual Property Practice Group. “Alan’s technical and legal experience provides him with a strong background in patent prosecution and licensing related to computer hardware and software and medical devices, and he is particularly strong and experienced with leading edge telecommunications technologies. He is an excellent addition to our firm.”

The Intellectual Property Practice Group at Seyfarth Shaw offers clients powerful protection for their most valuable assets. Backed by the resources of one of the nation’s premier law firms, the group’s veteran team of attorneys represents a diverse roster of clients—from Fortune 500 and multinational corporations to fast-growing start-ups. With broad experience in all areas of intellectual property law, the Seyfarth Shaw Intellectual Property Practice Group is a full-service partner that helps clients identify and secure their intellectual property rights, exploit them in the marketplace and enforce or defend them anywhere, domestically and internationally.

“Alan shares our commitment to team work, superior client service, and the growth of the firm’s IP platform both in Los Angeles and nationally,” said Kenwood C. Youmans, Managing Partner of the firm’s Los Angeles offices. “We are thrilled to welcome him to our team.”

Seyfarth Shaw opened its Los Angeles office in 1973 with two partners from its Chicago office. Today, it is a full-service office that has more than 125 lawyers with significant experience in business transactions, intellectual property, trust & estates, commercial litigation, employee benefits, and international & domestic employment law. A true testament to the firm’s commitment to growth is the opening of an office in Downtown Los Angeles in April of 2009, which expanded the firm’s presence in Los Angeles and allows it to better meet the needs of its many Southern California clients. Through their pro bono work and contributions of their time, talent and treasure to many charitable organizations and worthy causes, attorneys and staff in both Los Angeles offices make a studied effort to give back to the community of which the firm has been a proud part for over 35 years.

“I’m delighted to call Seyfarth Shaw home,” said Lenkin. “Seyfarth has a deep bench of skilled IP lawyers throughout the firm. I look forward to drawing upon the collective knowledge of my new colleagues to continue providing outstanding service my clients.”

Lenkin received his B.S. in Systems Analysis and Engineering from George Washington University and his J.D. from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles. He is admitted to practice law in California and the District of Columbia. He is also registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
