Washington, D.C. (April 28, 2009)—Seyfarth Shaw LLP, one of America’s leading full-service law firms, today announced that Alan I. Baron has joined the firm’s Litigation Department as a partner in the Washington, D.C. office. He was previously a partner at Holland & Knight LLP where he was Co-Chair of that firm’s Congressional Investigations Team.
Baron concentrates his practice in white collar criminal defense and securities and financial litigation. His practice is focused on high-profile cases in the federal enforcement arena and complex civil litigation. He also serves as special counsel to government entities. In addition to his private practice career, Baron has a long history of public service. Among other things, Baron is currently serving as special impeachment counsel for the House Judiciary Committee in one of its investigations. He has served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for Maryland, successfully prosecuting a number of high profile cases involving bribery and organized crime. Baron has also served as Minority Chief Counsel to the Senate Governmental Affairs Committee as it investigated campaign finance abuses.

Baron received his J.D. from Harvard Law School and his B.A. in English from Princeton University. He is admitted to the Maryland and District of Columbia Bars. He is also admitted to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, the Maryland Court of Appeals, the U.S. District Court for Maryland, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Supreme Court. Baron has authored and contributed to several publications on matters relating to his practice. He has been an adjunct professor of law at the University of Maryland Law School. He has also served as a legal analyst and commentator for NBC News, with a focus on federal investigations and impeachment.
