Seyfarth’s Construction practice group was spotlighted and profiled as one of Law360’s 2024 Practice Groups of the Year for its industry-leading counsel on notable construction projects. The group’s deep bench of talent and strategic approach have made Seyfarth a trusted partner for owners, contractors, and developers tackling issues across the full project lifecycle.

Practice group leads Alison Ashford and Michael McKeeman discussed the impact of several high-profile projects with Law360, including the construction of high speed rail between Los Angeles and Las Vegas. The multi-billion-dollar project is being developed by Brightline West,  a Florida-based company that built high speed rail between Miami and Orlando.

"It's a really cool project," McKeeman said. "And it's been very interesting because you're dealing with some of the larger construction companies throughout the US."

Seyfarth’s practice group leads also highlighted the firm’s work on a “massive transit project valued at nearly $2 billion that will be the centerpiece of the Miami skyline when completed.”

Ashford and lead attorney on the case, Jason Smith, discussed the impact of the high-profile case.

Ashford said, "The project is so significant that you basically can't get from the airport to downtown Miami without touching part of this project."

Smith continued, “Seyfarth was engaged early in the re-design process and assisted the client with navigating the issues created by having to re-design a major element of the overall project.”

Seyfarth's construction practice is supported by 31 partners and 18 other lawyers across the country who spend at least 50% of their time on construction matters, McKeeman said.
