Brie advises health care entities and practitioners on federal and state fraud and abuse laws, Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement issues, and HIPAA compliance. Her practice includes providing Anti-Kickback, Stark Law, and False Claims Act analyses, implementing compliance programs, and constructing Friendly PC arrangements for clients, which include individual practitioners, health care companies, laboratories, ambulatory care centers, nursing homes, and behavioral health centers.
Brie has also represented clients in state and federal court in matters involving civil and criminal health care fraud, business disputes, and high-stakes personal injury defense, as well as administrative proceedings before government agencies such as the SEC and NCAA. She was a member of a trial team that defended an executive of a pharmaceutical company against a conspiracy charge under the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act in the Southern District of New York, where she cross-examined key government witnesses.
