When resolving labor and employment law challenges, there is no one-size-fits-all approach. Maureen represents employers in all facets of traditional labor law, employment law counseling and defense litigation, and multiemployer fund ERISA litigation.
Maureen has significant experience litigating cases under the federal and state employment discrimination statues, wage and hour cases under the Fair Labor Standards Act and analogous state regulations, class actions and collective actions under federal and state law, cases under the WARN Act, cases under the Family Medical Leave Act, and federal and state duty of fair representation cases filed against union clients.
Maureen advises and represents employers on union contract negotiations and the grievance and arbitration processes, provides counsel for union awareness training, and defends employers on withdrawal liability assessments by multiemployer pension plans. She represents employers in discrimination cases in federal and state courts and before administrative agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the New York State Division of Human Rights, the NYC Commission on Human Rights, the National Labor Relations Board, and the US Department of Labor.
Additionally, Maureen counsels employers on preventative, corrective, and remedial measures and conducts anti-discrimination, sexual harassment, and workplace professionalism seminars. She works closely with human resources departments to draft and update employee handbooks to comply with changes to federal and state employment law.
