More About Steven

Steven is an experienced labor and employment litigator with a national practice representing domestic and international employers across a wide range of industries, including health care, technology, transportation, financial services, manufacturing, retail, and hospitality. He focuses his practice on defending employers in complex employment litigation, including wage and hour class and collective actions, discrimination and retaliation lawsuits, and large-scale government investigations.

Steven has significant experience handling class and collective actions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), California Labor Code (including Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA) claims), and other federal and state employment laws. He has defended nationwide systemic discrimination cases, including pattern-or-practice litigation brought by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), as well as class actions under statutes such as the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). His work includes managing large-scale matters involving hundreds or thousands of employees and navigating high-risk, high-exposure claims.

An accomplished trial lawyer, Steven has successfully tried jury cases involving claims of race, national origin, sex and pregnancy, disability, age discrimination, and retaliation. He also regularly handles emergency matters, including evidentiary hearings and injunction proceedings involving trade secrets, restrictive covenants, and unfair competition disputes arising from employee departures.

In addition to his litigation practice, Steven provides strategic counseling to employers on a wide range of workplace issues. He advises on wage and hour compliance, executive terminations, personnel policies, employment and non-compete agreements, and other human resources matters. Drawing on his experience with class and collective actions, he also assists employers with pay equity audits and uses data-driven analyses to assess litigation risk and evaluate compensation and employment practices.
