Matthew A. Sloan is an associate in the Labor & Employment Department of Seyfarth Shaw LLP’s Chicago office, where he is a member of the Workplace Safety and Health (OSHA/MSHA) practice group.  Mr. Sloan also has extensive experience handling traditional labor and employment law matters, including unfair labor practice charges and election petitions before the NLRB, class and collective actions, employee performance and separation issues, state litigation arising under the Illinois Whistleblower Act and Illinois State Officials and Employees Ethics Act, and federal litigation arising under Title VII.

Additionally, Mr. Sloan maintains an active pro bono practice, including representation of indigent persons in § 1983 matters and serving as court-appointed guardian ad litem.

During law school, Mr. Sloan externed for Judge Amy St. Eve of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and Judge Joe L. Webster of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina.  Mr. Sloan also externed with the Appellate Division of U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of North Carolina.
