Mentoring and Coaching

Lawyer Development Committee. The firm has a Lawyer Development Committee comprised of partners from every office who serve as advisors for our associates and help drive their development by providing coaching, annual review support, periodic check-ins, and goal setting.

One-on-One Coaching.  Associates can opt for six months of personalized coaching with expertly trained internal coaches. Coaching can encompass a range of areas, from practice development and credentialing to enhancing personal and leadership skills. This program has been active since 2012, with many associates advancing to partnership.

Triad Mentoring Program. The nationally recognized Triad Mentoring Program, launched in 2012, pairs high-performing senior associates with an executive level sponsor and a partner mentor with a leadership role. This program offers valuable business development and networking opportunities, with a 65% success rate in advancing participants to partnership.

Training and Development

Associate Curriculum. Tailored programming and curriculum introduce summer and first-year associates to firm practice, culture, and people.

Career Growth Support. Talent development professionals support attorneys as they navigate the firm and identify opportunities for development at all career stages, from first-year associates to partners. Our Professional Services Group has its own dedicated talent professional as well.

Business Development Program.  As part of the firm’s ongoing investment in the development of our attorneys, we have built a three-year training program that helps attorneys understand client needs and develop business skills.

Retreats. We host retreats at the managing associate, senior associate, and income partner levels. These retreats include substantive training programs, business development workshops, wellness activities, and networking opportunities, with participation from our department chairs and executive committee members.

Trial Advocacy Program. For litigators, we offer a trial advocacy program featuring training on how to prepare for trial, followed by an in-person mock trial event. This trial program includes lectures, faculty demonstrations, participant exercises, and an “on your feet” mock trial.
