Join us for a multi-part series on the ever-changing legal landscape that surrounds paid family and medical leave issues that challenge employers. This series aims to offer pragmatic guidance and compliance solutions for employers in multiple jurisdictions where the legal requirements may vary dramatically from one location to the next and where one-size-fits-all policies may no longer be effective.  See below for more detailed information on the topics we will cover in the latest installment of our paid family and medical leave webinar series. We look forward to your participation.

Part VII: Spotlighting Colorado, Oregon, and Washington State Paid Family Medical Leave Developments

Paid family leave and other paid time off developments continue to change at exceptional rates. Part VII of the Seyfarth Paid Family Leave Webinar Series examines the state of paid family and medical leave laws in Colorado, Oregon, and Washington. Contributions for the Colorado and Oregon paid family and medical leave programs begin in just a few short months on January 1, 2023. Benefits subsequently become available in September 2023 for eligible Oregon workers and in January 2024 for eligible Colorado workers. Both jurisdictions, as well as Washington State, have undergone recent rulemaking developments that impact program procedures, substantive requirements, and employer obligations.

Topics covered during the webinar include:

  • Overview of the current nationwide paid family leave law landscape.
  • Colorado PFML discussion that examines recent rulemaking, forthcoming rulemaking, upcoming deadlines in 2023 and 2024, and high level substantive details and employer obligations.
  • Oregon PFML discussion on recent rulemaking, payroll deductions, employer reporting and remitting requirements, upcoming deadlines in 2022 and 2023, equivalent plans, and other employer obligations.
  • Washington PFML discussion on recent rulemaking, as well as an overview of the state’s PFML program and corresponding employer requirements.
  • Forecast of federal, state and local paid family leave developments in the coming months.
