State and local paid sick leave and other paid time off developments continue to change at exceptional rates. To begin the new year, we would highlighted some of the changes and amendments made to Paid Sick Leave Laws, and the related topic of Paid Personal Leave Laws, throughout the country. This program addresses paid sick and personal leave developments in Colorado, Maine, New York State, and New York City.

January 1, 2021 marked an important date for paid leave in each of these jurisdictions. In Part 2 of our series, we provide insights into the current status of mandatory paid sick and personal leave in these locations and across the United States.

Topics covered during the webinar include:

  • Colorado Healthy Families and Workplaces Act (HFWA), including an analysis of the Act’s COVID-19, General and Public Health Emergency Paid Sick Leave mandates in 2021;
  • The impact of the Colorado HFWA regulations and administrative guidance, and a review of the Act’s notice, posting, and available balance notice obligations;
  • Updates on the New York State Paid Sick Leave Law, including a look at the state’s recently released proposed regulations, and New York City Earned Safe and Sick Time Act;
  • The Maine Earned Paid Leave Law, which will join Nevada on January 1, 2021 as the only states with a statewide mandatory Paid Personal Leave Law. We will examine the law’s substantive requirements, corresponding deadlines, and compliance tips.
  • Forecast of additional federal, state and local paid sick leave developments in the coming months.
