Seyfarth’s Ameena Majid, Emily Kesler, and Renee Appel co-authored an article, “Navigating ESG legal risks: understanding greenwashing and its implications,” in IFLR on May 19. The Seyfarth attorneys discussed how the evolving legal landscape for ESG-related initiatives, driven by increasing consumer scrutiny, regulatory developments, and a shifting political climate, has led companies to make more sustainability claims and investments, whether driven by genuine commitment or market appeal, resulting in a rise in "greenwashing" lawsuits alleging misleading or unsubstantiated claims.
