California Labor and Employment Legislation Alert

August 31, 2010, marked the last date for bills to pass out of the Legislature for the 2009-10 Regular Session. Below are the relevant labor and employment-related bills that made the cut and will move to the Governor’s desk for his action before his September 30, 2010 deadline, as well as those few bills that the Governor has already signed into law. Given that Governor Schwarzenegger will leave office at the end of this year, it is difficult to accurately predict how he will act on each of the pending bills. We will provide a further update after September 30, 2010, as to what the Governor signed, vetoed, or did not take up.
