"Employers Checking New Hire's Credit"

Chicago-based employment partner Camille Olson appeared on Marketplace Morning Report discussing how the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) is meeting to hear from stakeholders about employer use of credit history as a screening tool on October 20, 2010, in Washington D.C. According to Camille, credit screenings provide a variety of information that usually is not able to be confirmed by an employer, by other sources. And it is viewed by many sources as a valid indicator of a person's judgment and potential risk to a company. Camille also noted that financial institutions rely heavily on such checks.
