“Pay Audits Examine Signs of Pay Disparities”
Employment partner Camille Olson was quoted in the December 14 SHRM Online article regarding pay audits. Camille explained that she scrutinizes the signs of pay inequities carefully when she conducts pay audits, and for her the signs go beyond just looking at pay disparities in the same positions. Camille explained that signs of pay inequalities can include significant employee turnover or retention that is dramatically lower among minority groups or women. She remarked, “I encourage anyone who does a pay audit to be committed with some amount of speed to implement changes,” which she said are always forward looking. She also noted that pay audits can help employers limit liability and decrease their turnover and ensure that employees are rewarded for their performance based on legitimate nondiscriminatory factors.
