Camille Olson was quoted July 2, 2010 in The New York Times article, "The Coveted But Elusive Summer Internship." The article reported on the updated federal guidelines governing unpaid interns and featured students who have had a difficult time landing "resume-enhancing" experience this summer. The article pointed out that in April 2010, the Obama administration issued a fact sheet listing six criteria aimed at preventing employers from violating the Fair Labor Standards Act with their unpaid internship programs. According to Camille, the Labor Department guidelines have left employers scrambling to bulletproof their internship programs. She also noted that some employers have converted to paid internships, but in the process have cut back on the number of posts they can offer. While others, Camille added, have abandoned their programs altogether.
