Camille Olson Quoted in Workforce Management on Her Testimony Before Senate HELP Committee on ENDA
"Harkin Promises Approval of Sexual Orientation Discrimination Legislation in 2010"
Camille Olson was quoted in the November 6, 2009 Workforce Management article, "Harkin Promises Approval of Sexual Orientation Discrimination Legislation in 2010," on her testimony before the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee on November 5th regarding the Employment Non-Discrimination Act of 2009 (ENDA). Camille's testimony provided helpful insights into the legal ambiguities of some of the current language and offered practical solutions to address those uncertainties to ensure employers and employees understand their rights and obligations under ENDA. According to the article, she told the Senate panel that the bill is unclear about whether or how a company must modify restrooms, showers and other shared facilities for transgender employees. Camille commented, “The philosophy that I’ve heard expressed by people who are involved is one of adding more clarity so that if [the bill] is implemented, we’re not wasting resources on questions about what does it mean.”
