The lack of clarity surrounding compliance with the Form I-9 COVID-19 continues to frustrate HR leadership and legal departments across the country. While US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) issued a last-minute extension of the temporary allowance for virtual I-9 completion—until August 19—employers are still in need of clarifying guidance.

During our virtual ICEd Coffee session, we discuss these issues as well as the ever-changing legal and practical immigration compliance issues employers should be anticipating when: resuming business operations; bringing employees back to the workplace in Return to Business (RTB) phases; and when allowing new hires and existing employees to work remotely.

We also unpack the use of electronic I-9 systems in the context of work-from-home scenarios and dive deeper into the “Authorized Representative” I-9 completion method.
