Eight Seyfarth Attorneys Recognized by Connect CRE for 2025 Lawyers in Real Estate Awards

Connect CRE singled out eight Seyfarth attorneys in their respective regions across the country in its fifth annual 2025 Lawyers in Real Estate Awards. These honorees were spotlighted for “excelling in their practices as well as their contributions to the community.”

Jami Balint (Seattle & Northwest), co-chair of Seyfarth’s national Development practice, was noted for negotiating three major data center lease transactions, including a 10-building campus valued at approximately $25 billion.

Miles Borden (New York & Tri-State), co-chair of Seyfarth’s New York Real Estate Practice was cited for leading a team in representing STRS Ohio in the $1.08-billion sale of 590 Madison Ave. in New York City (the IBM Building), marking the first NYC office sale above $1 billion since 2022.

Catherine Burns (Boston & New England), chair of Seyfarth’s Boston Real Estate Department, was highlighted for advising clients on portfolio transactions and complex deal structuring, with a focus on aligning legal strategy with business objectives.

Christa Dommers (Washington DC), managing partner of Seyfarth’s Washington, DC office, was cited for her notable matters include assisting with build-to-suit leases and advising clients on facilities locations. 

Robin Freeman (California), co-leader of Seyfarth’s Real Estate and Healthcare Finance Department was noted for her oversight of billions of dollars in financing for skilled nursing and healthcare facilities nationwide. As well as her assistance in loan workouts for to commercial banks and her representation of investment management companies in property acquisitions.

Steve Meier (Chicago & Midwest), chair emeritus of Seyfarth’s Corporate Department was honored for pioneering advanced DST/UPREIT and other tax-efficient structures, as well as Opportunity Zone Fund frameworks to maximize tax advantages for real estate investors and developers. Meier was also noted for his contributions as chair to Seyfarth’ Corporate department.

Catherine Morgen (Atlanta & Southeast), Real Estate partner in the Atlanta office was recognized for her leadership in the representation of Pyramid Global Hospitality, Western & Southern Financial Group and Eagle Realty Group in the purchase and financing of the 147-room AC Marriott in San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter. Including Seyfarth’s representation of Breakwater in its joint-venture acquisition of the 175-key historic hotel in downtown Augusta, GA, designed by architect I. M. Pei.

Amy Simpson (Texas), managing partner of Seyfarth’s Dallas office was noted for acting as a special servicer’s counsel, while leading teams in securitized transactions and involvement with loan originations. Simpson’s profile also mentions how her leadership has strengthened the presence of Seyfarth’s footprint in Texas.
